Join us on a 6-day surf & adventure journey along the Wild-coast to Mdumbi Backpackers, a remote stay in the Transkei, one of South Africa’s less untouched stretch’s of coastline with vibrant local culture and rural living.
Together we share the ocean stoke stopping at various surf breaks, hidden gems and base our surf and activity options around the ocean conditions and weather forecasts. You can expect a variety of fun things to do, such as fishing, hiking, kayaking, horse riding and naturally, surfing.

Depending on where you would like to start the tour, we base the direction we heading, and surf spots we stop at, based on your level of surfing and expectation of the trip, together we share the ocean stoke stopping at various surf spots, local farm stalls, beautiful beaches and driving through scenic mountain passes off the beaten track.
Basing our activity’s around the ocean conditions and weather forecasts you can expect a flexible, slower paced and authentic experience. Choose between surfing all day or doing other fun activity’s such as bungee jumping, snorkeling and hiking! For meals we do a combination of home cooked meals, braais and stops at cafes, farm stalls and restaurants. If your not a surfer, that’s fine. There’s many other epic adventures to be had on the garden route.
A guided experience throughout and no hassle of needing to book accommodation, transport and activity’s.

Surf, Stay & Safari
Jeffreys Bay is the perfect stop on the garden route between Cape Town and Addo Elephant national park, we have created a hassle free, safe and guided option for you to make the most of your time here with our surf, stay & safari package.
Day 1 - Arrive, Surf and Explore
Check in to the Surf stoke cottage, choose your surfboard and wetsuit for your stay and head to the beach for a private 2 hour surf lesson. Later, explore the town, beaches and enjoy a meal at a local restaurant.
Day 2 - Safari, Braai and Adventure
Enjoy a full day safari at the Addo Elephant national park stopping off for lunch and enjoying a South African style barbeque in the park. After returning to Jeffreys Bay you have some free time and then dinner at another local restaurant.
Day 3 - Coastal Adventure & Surfing
After breakfast, start the morning with a 2 hour private surf lesson in Jeffreys bay or drive 30 minutes to Cape St Francis and visit the most south eastern point of south Africa surfing the best wave of the day. Followed by lunch and craft beer at a local brewery. Continue your journey back to Cape Town or fly out from Port Elizabeth airport.

Surf and stay in Jeffreys bay and experience the local surf culture and lifestyle. We have stepped away from generic surf retreats to give you a flexible and authentic way to visit J Bay, with your stay and surf lesson’s included. Whether its your first time surfing or you looking for a surf guide to introduce you to the best surf breaks on offer we got you covered.
Staying at the Surf Stoke Cottage you can expect a spacious, open plan private room that sleeps 3, with panoramic sea views and down to earth home stay at a locals home. But how am I going to get around? Add on a scooter rental with a board rack and carry bag to get around and cruise J Bay Bali style. This is a guided experience throughout accept you choose, we have the option of adding on any of our day tours that interest you. For meals there are many lovely restaurants to visit and since the surf stoke cottage is centrally located you're just a short drive or walk from the grocery stores.
